Blood Masculinities: The Triad of Men's Violences in Ghanian Occult Video Films

Abstract

The paper explores the causes and consequences of men's violences in Ghanaian occult video films. Using Michael Kaufman's theory of the triads of men's violences, the essay examines men's violence against women, other men, as well as violence against himself in the video film TIME. The paper argues that though masculinity is power, masculinity is terrifying fragile because it does not really exist in biological reality but rather in ideology. The insecurity in men arises because maleness is equated to masculinity. The essay concludes that masculinity is simply the figment of our imagination since it does not realy exist.
