Abstract

"How to Teach a Culturally Different Text"
ABSTRACT
The ideology of the university and the curriculum are central to pedagogy, together with the literary marketplace and the establishment of a canon. One cannot underestimate the importance of these issues, but they are either systemic or in some ways a consequence of larger economic considerations. The present inquiry is about the intellectual framework that governs the pedagogic process itself. The complex route through which a culturally different text finds its way into the curriculum merits serious attention. What happens to that text in different locations is equally important as an area of inquiry. The present paper moves away from these questions to focus on specific aspects of methodology as it relates to the practice of pedagogy.
